Widgets are a great way to embellish the look of your desktop: whether to provide quick information about your computer's sensors or merely show the date and time, they can be nice additions to your computer.
Some are more complicated than others — and for those liking simplicity, there's an app you could try to provide widgets in that vein. Glance is a lightweight, simple-to-use program that can show battery status and time and date widgets on your desktop.
A simple widgets program
As this app is still very early in its development, it's worth knowing that a lot here might seem rudimentary. You boot up the app, click Show to display the widgets, and that's pretty much it.
At the moment, only two widgets are available: one for the time and date and one for the battery status. They're quite large, and you cannot have one or the other, as both appear when you prompt the app to show the widgets.
Still, you can move them around to wherever you please, and clicking on them will copy the information they show.
Two customization options
There's a bit of customization that can be done — navigating to the Options will provide you with two settings that can be changed. This way, you can change the shape of the widgets, as well as their theme.
The shape of the widgets can be either circular or squared, and they can have a dark or light theme. The change reflects on both of them: you cannot customize them separately.
As for the size and opacity, there's currently no way to modify them: though it's stated in the changelog of the app, such a function was amiss in our testing — even though we tried the latest version available.
In conclusion
If you wanted to have widgets for the date and time, as well as for your battery status, then this app could be of use to you. The widgets look modern and slick, but as we're talking about a program early in development, there's still a lot left to be desired.

There’s a strange mish-mash of things going on with Glance. There are a ton of bugs (getting stuck in the main timer loop, doesn’t allow resizing, doesn’t resize at all when changing dates and so forth) and things that seem more like they’re planned than they are implemented.
It’s not a good app.
