Spring Boot: Release Strategy for application bundled with a library
I’m using Spring Boot to create an application with Spring modules and a JAR which contains a lot of third-party dependencies (i.e. Spring Framework, Hibernate, Spring Boot Actuator, Spring Data JPA).
The library consists of 3 projects with one module:
The application module (Application)
A spring-boot-starter-parent module
An application module
This application is a library which other teams are able to use to install in their applications.
I’m building the application with a profile called aop-module.
When running the application the application module has all the dependencies (e.g. when using ‘./gradlew bootRun’) and the library modules do not.
Because of the nature of the project the library needs to be built first and the Spring Boot plugin has to be built afterwards.
What’s the correct way to handle this?
Should the library be built on its own with a profile, or should it build the Spring Boot plugin first?
Should I be using the default plugin or the Java-level plugin?
I’m getting the impression that releasing a library is not the intended use case for the Spring Boot plugin.

Gradle plugin for Spring Boot will cause build to fail when building with profiles.
Also the plugin can not release any jar with dependencies.
