(a) I have used the definition of the kinetic energy, $K=\frac{1}{2}mv^{2}$.
(b)The potential energy is $\frac{1}{2}mV^{2}$.
(c) The total energy is $E=\frac{1}{2}mV^{2} + \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}$.

KEYMACRO Usage:
(1)Enter the given values for mass and box size. Then click on calculate.
(2)If you enter the same values for the particle and the box and click calculate, you will get your expected answer.
(3)As the particle can not leave the box, you must set the energy of the particle to be less than zero (or you can set it to anything less than zero, but it won’t be calculated).

The window gives you the value of the kinetic energy, total energy and the particle energy.

In this example we will calculate the energy of a particle in a box. The box has a box size of 1 by 1 by 1 units, and the potential energy of the particle is set at 1. We can not use the value of the energy as input for the calculation, since the box is too small for the potential energy to be zero. We will use the kinetic energy instead.

If we input the values of the energy components (1 unit box size, mass of the particle), the calculation is performed and the output is shown in the picture. If we input the same values for the particle and the box and click calculate, we get 70238732e0
