Angular $http service timeout issues

I have a ionic/angularJS application using the $http service to call a REST service.
When a request fails I am calling the $timeout service, but if a request takes longer than expected, it causes a timeout exception to be thrown from within the $http service.
In my case, it’s when I make a REST call using this model:

The $http.get() method is wrapped in a $timeout service when the request times out.
Is it a problem if I wrap the entire $http call in a $timeout service, or is this a reasonable way to handle timeouts?

Angular $http service loads a lot of data (like Promises). I don’t think it’s a reasonable way to handle timeouts. Besides, a $timeout service is not a good fit for this case. It would be better to create a new service for the timeout logic.
Angular has many ways to handle a time out condition. The Service mechanism is for the ajax or HTTP related logic. A new service to handle that logic is a better solution to this problem.

Is there a way to not view desktop chrome or other background tabs in vscode?

Having Chrome Developer Toolbar installed as per vscode setup instructions I have background tab viewing enabled, and it’s great.
It is only showing the one instance of the background tab. But I want to not show chrome or other background tabs.
Setting ignoreTabsWithUrls: [‘chrome://…’] doesn’t seem to have an effect. I can’t find an option that will make vscode not display these background tabs.

If you open your user settings (View > User Settings from menu) and select the settings tab there is a setting that you can set to false that will disable this (I think the setting is called “IgnoreTabsWithUrls”).
Another alternative is to change your workspace file to a config file so that the setting is not included in the.ts files that VS Code generates.

I have been working on getting a program to run to delete all files of a certain size in a folder.
I have the folder set as a working variable and I’m already gathering the correct type of information, but when I attempt to delete the files I get an error on the line:
